John Yu, O.D. Upon graduation from optometry school, Dr. Yu completed his residency in hospital-based optometry with emphasis in geriatrics and treatment of ocular pathology at the well-known Colmery-O'Neill Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. He later completed his fellowship in ocular disease and co-management of the latest refractive and cataract surgical procedures at the internationally renowned Berkeley Eye Center in conjunction with the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he served as a clinical instructor until 1990. Dr. Yu lives in Lumberton, Texas.  When he is not tending to his practice, Dr. Yu stays busy spending time with his wife, Marti and son, Michael. Once an avid competitive weightlifter, he believes that health and wellness is a lifestyle to be practiced by everyone including his patients. His hobbies include playing the guitar, boating and fishing, and golf.  New to the sport, he especially enjoys trap shooting.
